Introduction

The parachute mitral valve (PMV) is a congenital valvular abnormality by which the chordal structures of the mitral valve insert into a singular papillary muscle, as opposed to two seen in normal hearts. Restricted motion of the leaflets and obstructed diastolic flow can be investigated with the use of Echocardiography as displayed in the teaching cases below.
