The Basics

The interventricular septum houses the ventricular portion of the heart’s conduction system and divides the left and the right ventricle. This wall plays a vital role in mechanical function; the left anterior descending artery supplies blood to the anterior 2/3 of the septum and the right coronary artery supplies blood to the posterior 1/3 of the septum. There are 4 video case examples included in this article for a comprehensive assessment of this ventricular septal rupture.
